Roopa Unnikrishnan @ work

Roopa is a director for Pfizer's executive leadership team, working on various technology strategy issuses. Prior to joining Pfizer in April 2007, she was a strategy director at Citibank's CitiCards division, working in a $1-billion unit. Prior to that, she worked for seven years at Katzenbach Partners LLC, a New York organizational consultancy where she was employee #6. When she left, she was Practice Lead, Outsourcing, specializing in issues dealing with managing people and technology in the context of outsourcing and offshoring. A Rhodes Scholar who completed both an MPhil in Economic and Social History and an M.B.A. at the University of Oxford, Roopa has a deep understanding of demographics, socio-economic change and business management. Roopa has received special mention in the Vice Chancellor’s Annual Report to the University. As part of the M.B.A. program, she was part of a team that studied the strategic advantages of introducing digital technology into a well-established, large high-end portrait photography firm. While in India, she worked with an advertising agency that was in the process of computerization.

During her academic career, Roopa researched the social and economic determinants of female behavior, the socio-economic drivers of evolving government policy and social phenomena, such as suicide.

Roopa has worked with the Ministry of Finance and the Financial Institutions Adjustment Company (FINSAC), the governmental agency for rehabilitating weaker banks and other financial institutions in Jamaica.

Roopa also has a varied extracurricular life, being both a published poet and an world-class athlete in sports riflery. She has captained an Oxford University team and won many medals for her nation in the International arena. She holds degrees from the University of Madras and Oxford University.
